Jeremy Adams-West
Jeremy is a sophomore this year. In addition to wrestling, he plays football and is a member of the swim team. His goals for the future include college on the way to a good job.
Luis Carrasco
Luis is a senior this year. Last year he wrestled at 135 with a record of 27 and 8 and tied for 3rd at the BVL finals. Luis transferred in his freshman year from Delano High. This year he is not out for football so that he can concentrate on a winning season. This summer he worked at Great America. Luis said, "It's going to be a great year with funny and cool teachers." Each day after school he runs and works out so that he can be in shape once the season starts. "I am going to win CCS this year and Place at state," Luis added. Luis plans to attend a community college next year and then transfer to a 4 year university; he plans to become a PE teacher or a physical theparist.
Kayla Costell
Kayla is a freshman this year and will be wrestling JV. She wrestled for two years in middle school, in addition to playing soccer and being a member of the spirit squad. She likes to chill with her friends and listen to hip hop music.
Trung Dinh
Trung is a junior, weighing 130 pounds. He has also played football in past years, but this year is concentrating on wrestling. He likes all sort of music except for country.
Edgar Flores
Edgar traveled to Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico this summer to visit family. A junior, Edgar wrested at 130 last year and to third pace in JV Finals. At the end of the season, he was named Del Mar's "Most Improved" wrestler. He plans to go to college and wants to have a career in architecture. In his spare time, he plays guitar and listens to music.
Eric Gallardo
Eric is a junior this year. Standing at 5’8” tall, he weighs 150 pounds will wrestle in the 152 class. He likes to play football and his favorite class is science. Born in Los Angeles, Eric likes to hang out with his friends and listen to different kinds of music, but he really doesn’t like TV.
Luis Gonzalez
A freshman, Luis won 2 out of his 3 matches in competition. Wrestling is his sport at Del Mar, but with friends he also plays soccer. He likes to listen to rap music and to talk with las chicas. He doesn’t like homework, but is working hard to get his grades up.
Kevin Hall
Kevin is a sophomore this year and wrestled at 135 last season. His other school sport is swimming. Kevin attended this summer's wrestling camp at University of Southern Oregon. Recently he took part in a difficult backpacking trip to California's Marble Mountains. In his free time, he spends time with friends and family and checks out the ladies.
Joaquin Herrera
Another senior on the team, Joaquin wrestled last year at 145. During the spring, he is out for track. His hobbies include watching movies, hanging out with friends, and listening to music. He plans to attend college and is looking forward to the experiences he will have there.
Diego Jimenez
Diego is a junior and new to the wrestling team at Del Mar. In addition to his school activities, Diego draws in his spare time and works on cars. He plans to become a mechanic after high school and own his on shop.
Shawn Johnson
Shawn stands 6 feet tall and weights 150 pounds. He is another former football player that now is wrestling. His tastes in music range from Rap to Rhythm and Blues.
Boaz Licon
Boaz is 16 and weighs 140 pounds. A sophomore, he is new to the JV team. Twice he has lived in Mexico for six months to learn Spanish, but he notes that his Spanish is still not very good. At home he likes to play games on the computer and listen to music. His favorite TV shows are Heroes and Lost.
Logan Lijon
A senior, this is Logan’s first year as a wrestler. He joined the team after football season ended. In the spring, Logan is part of the track team. He listens to hip hop and rap. He likes to work out and lift weights, and chill with friends and girls, but he is not too fond of school work.
DJ Linares
DJ is also a senior at Del Mar, wrestling in the 155 weight group. In addition to wrestling, DJ also plays football. DJ was names the scholar athlete for wrestling at the 2006-2007 Winter sports awards.
Salvador Medina
Salvador is out for wrestling for the first time, though he was at Del Mar last year. This sophomore also plays ice hockey and soccer outside of school. He has real passion for ice hockey and is working hard to get to the next level of excellence in that sport. He plans to go to college. During vacations, he has visited Manzillo in Colima, Mexico. When not out with his friends, Salvador likes to listen to Rap and Classic Rock.
Matt Miller
Matt is a Senior this year and has been a member of the wrestling team for the last three years. He has wrested in the 160 class and he is devoting his entire energy to wrestling this year. The important things in life for Matt are family, school, friends, and money. He plants to go to college and wants to be making big money.
Tri Nguyen
Tri is in the 11th grade and weights 130 pounds. In addition to wrestling, Tri plays badminton. He enjoys listening to music in his spare time and his favorite class is math. At home, he lifts weights to keep in shape and be ready for the wrestling season.
Anthony Portales
Anthony is another sophomore member of the team who also swims for Del Mar during the spring season. Anthony is looking forward to applying skills he learned at the summer wrestling camp to the mat. Anthony wrestled at 125 last year. He is very interested in drawing and plans to take art class. In his spare time, Anthony listens to music in many different types.
Esteban Ramirez
Esteban weights 160 pounds and his two sports have always been soccer and wrestling. In music he listens to 2Pac and Baby Bash.
Hector Salas
Hector wrestled for Del Mar during his freshman year and then spent his sophomore year at Yerba Buena where he wrestled at 119. He is now back at Del Mar for his junior year and he is currently playing football. Hector has lived in Mexico and Belize in addition to the United States. "I want to be first this year in BVAL and quality for state," Hector said. In his free time, he plays guitar. He is working hard in his classes so that he can get a scholarship for college.
JB Schuler
JB returns for his second year as a Del Mar wrestler. In addition to wrestling, JB was a member of last year's swim team. In his spare time, he plays drums with his friends. His long range plans include college and getting serious about making music. He also is interested in the aviation field.
Eric Tilbury
Senior Eric had a very successful 2007-2008 wrestling season and became the first Del Mar wrestler to qualify for state finals in several years. There he only lost to the two wrestlers who came in 1st and 2nd in the state. In addition to this sport, Eric also plays football, is a member of the swin team, and ice hockey outside of school. Eric was the MVP of last season's wrestling team.
